About Me

Wealth of Experience

For over two decades, I have been providing cognitive-behavioral therapy to help people cope with anxiety and live a balanced, healthy life. After receiving my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology in 1983, I trained at the pioneering Center for Cognitive Therapy in Newport Beach, California. I then became certified as a cognitive therapist and was selected as a Founding Fellow of the Academy of Cognitive Therapy. Since 1990, I have served as a Clinical Faculty member at the University of Washington. I am also a member of the American Psychological Association, Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies, National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology, Anxiety Disorders Association of America, Washington State Psychological Association, Puget Sound Group Psychotherapy Network, among others, and hold staff privileges at Swedish Medical Center. I have helped several thousand clients achieve their personal goals. I believe my wealth of clinical experience is what attracts individuals from throughout Washington State to seek out my help.

Giving Back

I value giving back to our local community. I provide case supervision and training at the University of Washington in both the Departments of Psychology and Psychiatry. I present at professional conferences on topics such as anxiety disorders, CBT and group therapy. I offer consultation services to numerous medical and mental health providers in the area. I have also participated as a Research Scientist and Research Therapist in several depression studies at the University of Washington.

Work-Life Balance

I am devoted to my profession but also consider myself a good role model for maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Outside the office, I enjoy spending time with my wife, teenager, friends, and playful mutt. My interests include cycling, reading, dancing, Hebrew, music, art, humor, and backpacking. Recently I completed the Wonderland Trail, hiking 100 miles around the base of Mt. Rainier.
